Methodology
We record claims. We do not certify HIPAA.
HHS does not issue a HIPAA certification for answering services. Neither do we. A listing is a dated reading of a public page, not an audit of the vendor.
What we collect
For each vendor we try to record: whether the site stated that it signs a BAA, the URL of that statement, the date we read it, whether the site claimed U.S.-based operations, operator model (live, virtual, AI, or hybrid), nurse triage, specialties, and any public pricing or coverage notes.
What those fields mean
- Vendor states it signs a BAA
- The public site said, on the recorded date, that the company will sign a business associate agreement. That is not the same as our review of the contract, and it is not a finding that the vendor is HIPAA compliant.
- U.S.-based claimed
- The public site claimed U.S. operations or U.S. agents. We do not inspect offices or call recordings.
- Operator model
- We map the vendor's own language into live operators, virtual receptionist, AI or automated intake, or hybrid. Marketing pages often blur these. The profile quotes the mapping, not a lab test.
- Nurse triage
- The site stated that nurses handle some calls. We do not verify licenses, protocols, or staffing levels.
What we never say
- That a vendor is HIPAA certified.
- That a BAA on a sales page is sufficient for your practice.
- That a quality note was improved because someone paid.
- Invented testimonials, review counts, or traffic statistics.
Featured listings
Paid placement is labeled Sponsored. Specialty pages show at most three sponsored cards in the sponsored row. Payment does not change BAA language, filter membership, or compare fields. Quality notes are not for sale.
Corrections
If a vendor page changed, send the new URL and the date. We update the record when we can reopen the source. We do not remove an accurate historical note because it is inconvenient. We do not collect PHI to process a correction.
